Survey findings on traditional versus new media usage in East Africa

KinConsult conducted an online survey of some organizations based in East Africa. The respondents were pre-selected and the survey link was sent via e-mail to influencers and decision makers who are close to their organization’s sales and marketing department. The survey was commissioned on April 21st 2009 and was closed out on June 19th, 2009. This survey was live for approximately 2 months.

For traditional media, lessons learned were that billboards and newspapers were the most popular traditional means of advertising and constituted 50 % of the respondents. In terms of new media the most popular use of advertising was e-mail marketing with 33% of the respondents indicating they used that to promote their services.
